JRS Alginates are produced by JRS Marine Products Landerneau SAS near Brest in Brittany. The brown algae Laminaria digitataand Laminaria hyperborea are locally abundant along the Atlantic coast of France and are the main raw material for JRS Alginates. This algae are especially suitable for alginate production due to their high content of top quality alginate. The site applies best-in class safety practices and stringent quality standards (ISO 9001, BRC, ISO 14001).
By the end of the year 2018 the JRS group took over the alginate production site Landerneau from the Dupont group. Dupont had to sell this due to antitrust reasons. The production kept on running without interruption. The transferred regular customers are supplied seamlessly from the JRS Alginate plant in the usual manner.
For JRS it is important to offer an attractive, reliable strategic alternative source for alginate products from this production site to international markets.
As an owner-led, independent family company group, JRS stands for security, reliability, and long-term perspectives.
The world market leader for functional plant fiber products and dietary fiber concentrates provides ideal conditions for reliable sourcing and technology cooperations with his global production and service network.
With his international application teams JRS is a solution provider for customer specific packages with added value.
Alginate is one of the most versatile hydrocolloids due to its viscosifying, gelling and film forming properties under a variety of different conditions. The ability to dissolve and built up gels without heating, as well to control gel setting time very precisely by adjusting the calcium release with sequestrants is a key benefit. This versatility is reflected in the many applications making use of alginates, from technical applications to food and pharmaceuticals.
Ideal as stabilizing, thickening or gelling agent, VIVAPUR® Alginates can help you achieve desired bake stability in food products, consistency in cream fillings and custards, dairy products, ice cream and spreads, and texture in restructured meat, fish, and vegan products. In 2018, the US FDA included Alginates in the list of non-digestible carbohydrates that meet the definition of dietary fiber.
As a natural and biodegradable thickener, VIVASTAR® Alginates are very useful for adding viscosity or gel strength to tooth paste, body lotion, sun care, hair conditioner, shampoos or face cosmetics. VIVASTAR® Alginates provide moisture and film forming combined with homogeneous and smooth spreadability.
JRS Alginate is a natural biodegradable polymer for various technical application fields such as textile printing, welding rods, ceramics and paper industry.
With VIVAPHARM® Alginates, JRS Pharma offers an extensive portfolio for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and medical device market. VIVAPHARM® Alginates provide disintegration and controlled release function in tablets, absorption in wound care products, protective coatings, tailored gelling in dental impressions, instant gelling during microencapsulation and film forming properties.
JRS Alginates are a superior binder for pelletized or reconstituted fish feed, resulting in outstanding pellet stability and lower pollution in culture ponds. In pet food alginates act as heat stable binder for restructured products.
JRS Alginates are available in a wide range of viscosities and particle sizes, for optimized handling, process capability, tailormade functionality and finally high consumer acceptance. The JRS “Alginate” range comprises alginic acid, from which the alginate salts and functional systems are made, especially designed to meet application needs:
