During transport, storage or in retail markets, the water supply for pot plants can be difficult to manage requiring some labour. As a solution to overcome these efforts, the pot substrate can be dipped in a gel, which provides a long-lasting water reservoir for the plant roots. This can be done by the producers of pot plants prior to the delivery.
Basis of this water-reservoir gel is the JRS hydro colloidal microcrystalline celluloses (MCG), which is activated to form a gel by adding water. The roots can easily penetrate the gel and are supplied with water several days to weeks, depending on the application quantity and plant requirements.
