The BSB European Innovation Award was to be awarded in 2021 for the nineteenth time by the independent BSB – Beratungs- and Servicebüro Dr. Riedel.
The aims of the award are to promote the global dissemination of up-to-date knowledge and an alignment of a competition in a most objective, fair, independent and for the participating companies cost-free way. The origin of the products do not matter (e.g. big or small company, country, …)
According to Fraunhofer Umsicht’s “Final report on microplastics and synthetic polymers in cosmetic products as well as detergents, and cleansing agents”, in Germany alone, 23.700 mt of liquid synthetic polymers are exposed to our environment through personal care products per year, and are released into our wastewater. How much of these 23.700 mt are released to the limnic or marine waters, and also the environmental impact and risk for human beings and animals is still unknown.
VIVAPUR® CS TEX Easy (INCI: Microcrystalline Cellulose, Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum) is a rheology modifier, suitable for the production of Personal Care and Cosmetic Products which has a high emulsion stabilization potential, ensures a silky and light skin feel, easier distribution on skin and is sprayable.
The raw materials of VIVAPUR® CS TEX Easy are 100 % renewable, and are not only biodegradable, but also edible without causing any risk due to the subconscious and not controllable daily release of poorly biodegradable liquid synthetic polymers.
On top, VIVAPUR® CS TEX Easy gives access to emulsifier free formulations and also even silicone like textures. That means it helps to reduce the number of ingredients in formulation and increase the sustainability of formula.
Those properties make VIVAPUR® CS TEX Easy a sustainable, natural and readily biodegradable alternative to so called liquid plastics.
It enables formulators to reformulate quite simple and use a natural alternative to liquid plastics, as there is no investment needed for new equipment in the production and the type of application doesn’t need to be changed (e.g. a Spray with liquid synthetic polymers can be reformulated as a natural Spray), the product can be dosed perfectly and spreadability as well as skin feel are excellent.
